Amnesty International Freedom Candle
Upon the 60th anniversary of Amnesty International, this exceptional organization joined forces with Rückl Glassworks to present the Freedom Candle Collection. This is the first artistic project in history where the individual member countries of Amnesty International join in the fight for human rights.
Within this worldwide project, the main Freedom Candle design by Rony Plesl will be supplemented by designs from selected artists from the Amnesty International member countries. Each country will select a representative who will create their own original design or motif to then be executed in crystal by Rückl Glassworks.
The main design of the entire collection was created by Rückl Art Director Rony Plesl. His design of the crystal candle uniquely captures the Amnesty International logo. The hand-cut symbols are supplemented by expressive painting with pure gold.

The crystal candles from the Freedom Candle collection with a distinct pattern prove the master skills of glassmakers, cutters and painters from the Rückl Glassworks in the Central Bohemian town of Nižbor. Each candle passes through dozens of hands – from mouth-blowing into a wooden form, to hand-cutting of the individual motifs to painting with pure gold.
Subsequently, the cut-crystal holder is manually filled with wax. Thanks to their unique design, the Freedom Candle collection will become a beautiful centerpiece in any interior that symbolizes those values most needed in today’s world.
