The Czech glass brand Rückl showcases its new collection at Designblok 2024 with the INTERFACE installation, which will be on display from 2 to 6 October in the Prague Castle Riding Hall. The installation coincides with the premiere of a new collection of hand-cut vases by designer Kateřina Handlová, and with a special limited edition. The theme of the installation and the new collection explores the boundaries between object and product, and the search for beauty in contrasts and imperfection.
Limited edition Ludvika
Enter a world on the boundary between light and dark, fashion and product, what disappears and what remains. The Rückl Glassworks, under the direction of Kateřina Handlová, will present a new approach to cut glass to bring out its beauty - the beauty of imperfection. The cut becomes a gesture and a record of the touch of time, just as with cut stones. And just as fashion transforms fabric into an expression of thought and desire, so does this new approach to glass.
The installation, created in collaboration with Lunchmeat Studio and Monument Office, brings together raw and subtle elements. The stones with glass resemble sand dunes that transform over time, while the plinths bring a clear geometry, mirroring reality and creating a sense of timelessness that unfolds into an imaginary landscape. This scenery, suspended between memory and reality, day and night, surface and structure, depicts the beauty of contrasts and reminds of the transience of time. INTERFACE seeks beauty in imperfection and reflects the human longing for meaning and permanence in a rapidly changing world - aiming to capture emotion, the present moment, ephemerality; or conversely, eternity.
Don't miss this unique opportunity to discover glass objects that transcend the boundaries of traditional design and embody Kateřina Handlová's innovative approach to glass cutting. The installation will be on display from 2 to 6 October in the Riding Hall of Prague Castle.
