The delicate hand-cutting, reminiscent of animal fur, pays homage to the artist Meret Oppenheim. Her renowned 1936 artwork entitled 'Object' features a cup, saucer and coffee spoon adorned with fur. It blends dreamlike surrealism with a witty critique of societal perceptions of femininity, straddling the lines of erotic and domestic. Through her sculptures and objects, Meret shattered the glass ceiling of the male-dominated art world, garnering widespread recognition from the general public. The smoky vase, adorned in crystal, is a specific reference to her iconic "fur" objects.
